May at UСA: developing partnerships and over 1,300 activities for children and communities
In May, the Chairman of UСA Board of Trustees, Dan Radion, arrived in Kharkiv from Switzerland.
He visited the educational centers "Zmistovno", met the team and saw how the daily work of the educational spaces is organized. Direct acquaintance with the local context helps the Board of Trustees to better understand the organization's activities and the needs for its further development.
Together with Dan Radion, the UСA team met with representatives of the Kharkiv Regional Council and Nova Ukraine. They talked about what the communities of the Kharkiv region need most today and where joint work can bring the greatest benefit.
Another important topic for May is training for people who lost their jobs due to the war or want to learn a new profession.
At Semyon Kuznets KhNEU, the UСA team met with the rector, Tetyana Shtal. Together, they discussed which educational projects could be useful for the residents of the Kharkiv region and in what areas the university and UСA can combine experience.
The team also visited the Kharkiv Vocational College of Construction and Industry. We saw how the training workshops work, got acquainted with the college's capabilities, and talked about training adults in working professions.
One possible direction is short practical programs tailored to the real needs of employers. To launch them, it is important to understand what specialists businesses lack today, what training conditions the college already has, and what needs to be strengthened in its workshops.
This work is just beginning, but its goal is clear: to help people acquire in-demand skills, and for enterprises in the Kharkiv region to find trained employees.
In May, 1,051 classes were held at the "Zmistovno" centers. Children continued to catch up on their educational losses, develop their abilities, and communicate with their peers.
Within a month, one of the centers moved from a location near the Levada metro station to a new space near the Yaroslav Mudryho metro station.
The team conducted another 256 classes in the Spaces of Indestructibility. The locations also remained accessible to community residents: in May, 624 adults used them to rest and charge their devices.
The May work combined daily educational activities with the development of partnerships and preparation of future projects. UСA continues to work to make new knowledge, support, and professional opportunities more accessible to the residents of Kharkiv and the region.
