UBA launches "Path of Opportunities 2.0" — training tailored to real business needs

Charity organization «"Ukrainian Charitable Alliance"» with the support of Nova Ukraine launches a project «"Path of Opportunities 2.0: Restoration Professions for the Frontline Kharkiv Region.". We are launching this project to connect people looking for a new professional opportunity with local employers who are lacking workers with practical skills.

Why does the Kharkiv region need this project?

The war has changed the labor market in the region. Some people have lost their jobs, been forced to move, or are no longer able to return to their previous profession. At the same time, small and medium-sized businesses There is a shortage of workers in areas without which the restoration of the Kharkiv region is impossible: construction, repair, welding, electrical installation, metal work, carpentry and furniture making.

A feature of small business is that it often does not need dozens of specialists in one specialty, but one person, several assistants, or a small team for specific tasks.

It is this gap between people who need work and employers who can't find workers that Opportunity Road 2.0 is supposed to bridge.

How the project will work

At the first stage, we will collect personnel requests from enterprises, industries, service stations, repair teams, workshops, and other employers in Kharkiv and the region.

Employers will be able to report:

what kind of employees are they looking for;

what skills candidates should have;

how many people are willing to involve;

when a staffing need arises;

what conditions and format of work they can offer.

Based on these requests, along with Kharkiv Vocational College of Construction and Industry we will form short practical training modules.

Training can start even for one participant or a small group - if there is a confirmed request from the business, the necessary master, training base, and a real prospect of internship or work after completing the module.

At least 70% study time We plan to dedicate it to practice. Participants will work with tools and equipment and practice specific professional skills.
After completing the module They will take a final skills test and receive confirmation of completion of the training. The next step may be an interview, a trial day, an internship, a contract or a job placement.

Looking for a new professional opportunity?

We invite people who want to learn new practical skills and return to work to participate.

Among the possible directions:

welding and metalworking;

electrical installation;

construction and repair work;

carpentry and furniture making;

installation and service work;

other professional areas for which employer demand will be confirmed.

The list of training modules will be formed gradually - in accordance with the real personnel needs of the business and the capabilities of the training base.

Fill out the participant questionnaire, to get information about available directions and further selection.

Looking for employees?

We invite enterprises, production facilities, service stations, construction and repair companies, workshops and other small and medium-sized businesses in Kharkiv and the Kharkiv region to cooperate.

We will help formulate personnel needs, identify required skills, and assess the possibility of practical training of candidates together with the college.

Employers will also be able to participate in professional trials, master classes, participant evaluations, internships, and interviews.

Leave a personnel request, so that we take into account the needs of your business when developing the first training modules.

What will happen in the first stage?

During the preparatory phase we:

we will collect and verify requests from employers;

we will determine priority professional areas;

evaluate the possibilities of college workshops;

we will form a preliminary base of participants;

we will prepare the first training modules;

we will conduct a technical audit of the welding workshop;

We will prepare documentation for a further decision on its modernization.

This approach allows you to launch training based on real demand and make decisions about training infrastructure after technical verification, rather than based on assumptions.

Partnership for the Restoration of the Kharkiv Region

The educational and infrastructure partner of the project is the Kharkiv Vocational College of Construction and Industry.

With the support of Nova Ukraine, we are preparing the launch of the training model, conducting a technical audit, and developing documentation for a further decision on the modernization of the welding workshop.
